It's as interesting to see what's on the list as what's not. I'm taken back by how many I've never even heard of. I do recognize a number of authors, but associate them with other books or don't know what they've written, e.g., I've heard of Danielle Steele, but I don't know what she's written.

I've often thought this.
I'm surprised by some of your question marks. Can it be possible that you've never heard of Fried Green Tomatoes? You'd like it, too--a sweet story that made me smile. And considering your love of gothic novels and thrillers, you have to read The Yellow Wallpaper. CREEPY!!!!! Gilman's a great writer--Herland is a must for any feminist.
Also, Zadie Smith's White Teeth is superb. I believe I am alone in the universe in believing her second novel superior, however.
